The Malvern Police Department is charged with the responsibility of providing a full range of law enforcement services to the citizens of the Borough of Malvern, twenty–four hours per day and seven days per week. The Department is currently staffed by five full–time Officers, several part–time Officers and one Administrative Assistant.

The Police Department is organized into three functioning components:

Administrative Services – The task of managing the day–to–day operations of a small police department consume a large part of the administrative services provided. These services are primarily provided by the Chief of Police and his Administrative Assistant, Anna Novelli. Services include fiscal management, personnel and training, planning, research and public information.

Patrol Services – Patrol services are the most visible aspect of the Police Department, and primarily provided by Patrol Officers. Strong emphasis is placed on promoting a proactive attitude toward the responsibilities of the Patrol Officers, to include community relations and crime prevention.

Investigative Services – The Police Department also provides criminal investigations when necessary. A criminal investigation consists of a lawful search for people and evidence useful in reconstructing the circumstances of an illegal act or omission and the mental state accompanying it. It is the probing from known to unknown, backward in time and its goal is to determine the truth to the maximum extent possible.
